Amy Carter

Amy chose the O’Neill Online program because it allowed her to obtain her master’s degree from a well-respected program while living out of state while her husband was on active duty. Amy brought three years of professional experience to the program, and currently lives in New Palestine, Ind.

The flexibility of the program was key for Amy as she was working a full-time job, and a part-time job while pursuing her master’s degree. She believes that she was able to complete the program with such a busy professional schedule because of the availability of the professors in her courses for one-on-one help. Amy was also an O’Neill Online Week participant, which allowed her to accelerate her timeline to completion and recommends the course to anyone in the program.

After graduating, Amy was able to use her MPA to help her land her current role at the Indiana Institute for Working Families. The skills she gained in her program are what made her the best candidate for her current position when it came available.

When asked to give advice to current students, Amy says, "take any class with Barry Rubin that you can, and go to O’Neill Online Week. Don’t be afraid to asked for help when you need it - fellow students and professors are wonderful resources and show tremendous generosity." She also encourages students to, "take advantage of the O’Neill Career Hub for resumes, internship help, and job searching."
