- The perspective you bring to O'Neill has a positive influence on the social and academic perspective of your academic peers. As Teach For America alumni, you possess unique life skills and experiences that enhance our overall academic environment.
- Teach For America alumni have a demonstrated commitment to public service that meshes perfectly with the spirit of the O'Neill School, where students, faculty, and alumni are passionate and engaged in service activities to strengthen the world’s communities.
Benefits to Teach For America alumni
You qualify for a reduction of 3 credit hours per year of service (up to a maximum of 6 credits—this amounts to a cost savings of more than $3,800 per year of service, depending on residency). Your Teach For America service also satisfies the experiential requirement for an MPA or MSES degree.
NOTE: Teach For America alumni who are external dual degree students will not receive the 6 credit hour waiver, as you must take at least 36 hours of SPEA coursework to obtain a professional degree.
As a Teach For America alum, you will also receive a graduate school application fee waiver from Indiana University, which is a savings of $60.
