O’Neill Research Centers and Initiatives
Indiana University Public Policy Institute
We deliver data-driven research to help public, private, and nonprofit sectors make decisions that impact the quality of life in Indiana and throughout the nation. Based on our Indianapolis campus, we staff the Indiana Advisory Commission on Intergovernmental Relations and house the Center for Health and Justice Research.
Transportation Research Center
We conduct research for government agencies and the private sector including highway crash data and safety analysis, and evaluating alternative DWI treatment programs in Indiana's Marion County. Our recent projects include researching highway safety, aviation safety, transportation economics, and the transport of hazardous materials.
O’Neill Affiliated Centers
Indiana Advisory Commission on Intergovernmental Relations
Established by the General Assembly in 1995, our mission is to create effective communication, cooperation and partnerships between the federal, state and local units of government to improve the delivery of services to the citizens of Indiana.
Indiana University Research and Teaching Preserve
Our mission is to provide natural field settings for research and teaching at IU. We address environmental issues which require solutions that include studies in the natural world and affirm that not all scientific research is done in a lab and not all teaching is done in the classroom.
The Vincent and Elinor Ostrom Workshop in Political Theory and Policy Analysis
Established in 1973, our faculty teach in the O’Neill School, the departments of Political Science, Economics, and Psychology, and the Kelley School of Business. We conduct three central areas of research: institutional analysis of public goods and common pool resources, the nature of macro-political order, conflict at an international level.
