O’Neill Research Centers and Initiatives

Indiana University Public Policy Institute

We deliver data-driven research to help public, private, and nonprofit sectors make decisions that impact the quality of life in Indiana and throughout the nation. Based on our Indianapolis campus, we staff the Indiana Advisory Commission on Intergovernmental Relations and house the Center for Health and Justice Research.

Manufacturing Policy Initiative

A multidimensional initiative to study challenges facing the U.S. manufacturing sector and assess public policies that impact the industrial sector. We draw upon the O’Neill School’s expertise as well as the expertise of other disciplines and institutions.

Institute for Development Strategies

We work to further research, graduate-level education, and scholarly exchange in economic development and public policy. We coordinate faculty research across IU, hold seminars, courses and workshops, and are a frequent conference sponsor.

Local Governance Initiative

We partner with local governments and communities to work on their unique concerns that affect the everyday life of citizens.

Indiana Clean Lakes Program

A monitoring and education program in partnership with the Indiana Department of Environmental Management Office of Water Quality.

Center for Research on Inclusion and Social Policy

We examine systemic issues at the intersection of social policy and equity, and help leaders and residents make informed decisions about those issues. We are affiliated with the IU Public Policy Institute.

Center for Cultural Affairs

Our mission is to advance the understanding of the role of arts and culture in public life. We facilitate a network of scholars and practitioners interested in advancing cultural affairs research.
