A skilled facilitator and educator, Dr. Gwen White thrives on clearly communicating complex issues, untangling situations rife with conflict, and supporting diverse community collaborations for resource management. She has held positions in state and federal government, private communications consulting, aquaculture extension, and university teaching. Technical specialties include non-point source pollution, invasive species control, land use effects on aquatic resources, coral reef and inland aquatic ecosystems, professional diversity, parliamentary procedure, and aquatic stewardship education.

As science coordinator for US FWS Eastern Tallgrass Prairie & Big Rivers, she developed and equipped the landscape conservation community in this lower Midwest region, focusing on prairie restoration, river restoration, agroecology, and urban conservation. With the Indiana Department of Natural Resources, she served as a biologist overseeing lake management grants. With DJ Case, she specialized in communications, including all aspects of facilitation, public engagement, media campaigns, website content, and meeting logistics.

White is actively engaged in the American Fisheries Society (AFS), having served for over a decade on the governing board and as North Central Division president, Equal Opportunities Section president, member of the Hutton Committee (which annually selects students for summer mentoring internships to increase professional diversity among underrepresented groups); member and symposium coordinator for the Native Peoples Fisheries Section; and Society parliamentarian. She has been recognized with the AFS Emmeline Moore Prize and two Distinguished Service Awards.

White served in the U.S. Peace Corps as an aquaculture volunteer during a period of high-intensity civil strife in the late 1980s, working in applied research and coastal economic development. She is engaged with the growing international community in Indianapolis, where she teaches martial arts and translates for Spanish-speaking parents.

White has taught over a dozen graduate- and undergraduate-level courses as a visiting instructor at six universities in three states. She holds a doctorate in conservation biology from the University of Minnesota and a master's degree in zoology from the University of Maryland.
