Dr. Leonor Camarena is an assistant professor at the Paul H. O’Neill School of Public and Environmental Affairs, Indiana University – Bloomington. Her research examines various aspects of public management, nonprofit management, and local government, with work focusing on decision-making, technology, and organizational behavior. She aims to enhance effectiveness, efficiency, and innovation in public and nonprofit organizations by addressing structural limitations, technological challenges, and organizational dynamics. Her work has been published in journals including Public Administration Review, Review of Public Personnel Administration, and Nonprofit and Voluntary Sector Quarterly.
Camarena joined the O’Neill school in 2022. Previously she was an assistant professor in the School of Public Affairs and Administration at Rutgers University – Newark. She currently serves as an editorial board member for the Review of Public Personnel Administration and Nonprofit and Voluntary Sector Quarterly. Prior to entering academia, she was as a policy analyst and program evaluator at CPLC, a 501(c)3 community development corporation in Phoenix, Arizona. She earned her Master of Public Administration and Ph.D. in Public Administration and Policy from Arizona State University.
