Develop the skills you need to take you to the graduate level as an Equity Scholar

As an Equity Scholar you’ll focus on developing important research and writing skills that will help you succeed at the graduate level. The O’Neill Equity Scholars Program:

  • Supports talented, highly motivated students as they strive to achieve their educational goals
  • Helps you create relationships with faculty research mentors
  • Provides you with a foundation for graduate school
  • Creates talented, dedicated, and prepared future researchers and faculty

What do Equity Scholars do?

Engage in research

Conduct research projects and get a realistic picture of graduate school scholarship, particularly for doctoral programs.

Build presentation skills

Present your research at select symposia, have the opportunity to travel to professional conferences, and to network through professional organization memberships.

What do Equity Scholars receive?

You’ll receive an educational incentive of $500.

You’ll be paired with a faculty mentor—a role model and essential resource—who will provide guidance throughout your undergraduate research process and advice as you apply to graduate school, where applicable.

Engage with others through monthly seminars, group meetings, and various academic enrichment events.

You may receive funding to travel to conferences to present your research (up to $300 per trip) and journal submission fees (up to $100).
