As an Equity Scholar you’ll focus on developing important research and writing skills that will help you succeed at the graduate level. The O’Neill Equity Scholars Program:
To apply to the Equity Scholars Program you must be a full-time IU Bloomington undergrad.
Application deadline: May 7
Conduct research projects and get a realistic picture of graduate school scholarship, particularly for doctoral programs.
Present your research at select symposia, have the opportunity to travel to professional conferences, and to network through professional organization memberships.
You’ll receive an educational incentive of $500.
You’ll be paired with a faculty mentor—a role model and essential resource—who will provide guidance throughout your undergraduate research process and advice as you apply to graduate school, where applicable.
Engage with others through monthly seminars, group meetings, and various academic enrichment events.
You may receive funding to travel to conferences to present your research (up to $300 per trip) and journal submission fees (up to $100).
As soon as you are admitted to the Equity Research Program, you will be matched with a research mentor, determine a research project, write a proposal, and develop the project throughout the academic year. Your research mentor will guide you through the research process and introduce you to procedures and professional behavior in the field.
