BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Researchers, students, and alumni from the Paul H. O'Neill School of Public and Environmental Affairs will be on hand to provide their expertise and insights during the 36th Association for Budgeting and Financial Management Conference Sept. 26-28 at the Levin College of Public Affairs and Education at Cleveland State University.
The ABFM Conference provides a platform for leaders and experts in the field of public finance and budgeting to exchange ideas and collaborate on cutting-edge research and practices.
“This conference provides an excellent platform for our researchers to share their innovative work while contributing to the ongoing dialogue in public budgeting and financial management,” said Siân Mooney, dean of the O’Neill School. “As the top-ranked public affairs school in the nation when it comes to public finance and budgeting education, we’re thrilled to play a prominent role at this prestigious conference.”
Besides presenting research, participating in panel discussions, and sponsoring the Thursday evening reception, the O’Neill School will be well represented when it comes to ABFM’s annual awards. Doctoral student Luis Enrique Navarro will be recognized with the Michael Curro Student Paper Award, which is given to a graduate student who has written what is judged to be the best paper in the field of public finance as part of a course, independent study, or other faculty supervised project in the past year. Additionally, Associate Professor Temirlan T. Moldogaziev will be honored at the conference with the Jesse Burkhead Award, which recognizes the best article published in the journal Public Budgeting & Finance. Moldogaziev co-authored the article with O’Neill School alum and current University of Illinois Springfield Interim Vice Chancellor of Finance and Administration Kenneth Kriz.
