Annie Hsu, an economist, specializes in investigating the factors contributing to urban decline and the manner in which local governments react to shifts in the economic landscape through public policy measures. Her research delves into topics such as the business cycle, economic shocks, natural disasters, and the interactive strategies pursued by local governments. Notably, Dr. Hsu has previously engaged in some government projects, including the SAM project, which involved producing small-area population forecasts for the Houston Metropolitan Region.
Prior to these experiences, Dr. Hsu held a role as a research fellow with the World Inequality Database as part of a research team that provided public access to an extensive historical database that documents the evolution of income and wealth distribution across the globe.
In 2023, Annie Hsu joined O'Neill School.
