Biography
Matt Gentile is a principal with Deloitte Advisory and a leader in its Government & Public Services (GPS) practice. He also serves as Deloitte Advisory’s leader for artificial intelligence.
Gentile has more than 20 years of experience working at the intersection of commerce, public policy, and technology. He began his career as a White House staffer supporting environmental science and policy development. After graduating from MIT, he co-founded Syncline, changing how local government organizations published and shared geospatial data on the web, and later co-founded Traverse Technologies, a data analytics firm acquired by Deloitte in 2010.
Prior to Gentile’s current position at Deloitte, he served as the lead client service partner for Deloitte’s work in support of the Department of Homeland Security and led innovation and platforms for Deloitte’s GPS business. He collaborated with Deloitte’s eminence team and the MIT Media Lab to launch DataUSA.io, a free platform that allows users to collect, analyze, and visualize shared U.S. government data.
Gentile has served on the Deloitte U.S. Board Council, the National Geospatial Advisory Committee, the board of directors for the Homeland Security and Defense Business Council, and on the board of directors for The Fishing School.
He received a B.S. from the Indiana University O’Neill School of Public and Environmental Affairs, and a master’s degree from MIT.
