BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Siân Mooney, the dean of the Paul H. O’Neill School of Public and Environmental Affairs, has been invited to join the Strategic Advisory Board of Arizona State’s Center for Organizational Research and Design.
CORD’s mission is to promote, support, and conduct high-impact, use-inspired organization design research. It is focused on the context of knowledge and science-intensive social enterprises and on transcending the boundaries between sectors, policies, institutions, organizations, and individuals. Mooney previously served as associate dean for interdisciplinary programs and initiatives for the ASU College of Public Service and Community Solutions and as a professor in the School of Public Affairs.
“I’m very honored and excited to join the Strategic Advisory Board of CORD,” Mooney said. “Interdisciplinary collaboration is tremendously fruitful, and being available to work with my former institution will allow me to add my expertise to the fantastic work being conducted there while strengthening the bonds that already exist between ASU, Indiana University, and the O’Neill School.”
CORD focuses on a number of different categories of research, including scientific and technical human capital, technology transfer, university design and preference, public management, and environmental policy and sustainability.
Mooney’s interests lie in questions related to the use of natural resources and the environment. She is an economist who has worked for many years on topics related to water use in the western United States, endangered species, and the impacts of climate change and has secured more than $4 million in external grant funding. She also is interested in the incentives that scientists face to address complex problems as part of multidisciplinary teams and the role of science information in decision-making.
