Biography
Sarah Junk Hatcher currently serves as a visiting lecturer in the O’Neill School of Public and Environmental Affairs where she specializes in arts administration and museum. She also serves as the Faculty Chair for the Masters in Curatorship. Dr. Hatcher is a museum administrator, curator, and educator with over two decades of experience in museum settings. Her educational background inclues undergraduate degrees from the University of North Dakota, a graduate degree in arts administration (M.S.) from the University of Oregon, and a Ph.D in Curriculum and Instruction from Indiana University. rom 2011to 2025 she held a variety of positions at the IU Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology and its predecessor institutions, the Mathers Museum of World Cultures and the Glenn A. Black Laboratory of Archaeology. Sarah enjoys learning as much as she enjoys teaching, and she was honored to be a part of the 2019 Fulbright-Leibniz Transatlantic Seminar for Museum Curators and Educators and the 2025 cohort of the History Leadership Institute (American Association of State and Local History). Her current research focuses on educators’ perceptions of museums and the intrinsic and instrumental uses of museums.
