Tara Ali started with the O'Neill School as a visiting lecturer in 2022, and she became a full-time lecturer in 2024. Ali is the undergraduate engagement lead for Law and Public Policy majors and is the lead instructor for V184: Law and Public Affairs.
Prior to joining O'Neill, Ali worked in private practice and also as a judicial law clerk for judges both in Indiana and Iowa. Through these judicial clerkships, Ali worked closely with over 15 judges, and this experience provided her with a unique perspective into how different judges analyze and approach cases.
Ali is a native of Indiana. She graduated from Indiana University Maurer School of Law cum laude and was selected to the Order of Barristers for excellence in oral advocacy. During her time as a law student, Ali was an Indiana Dean’s Scholar, an articles editor on the Indiana Law Journal, a quarterfinalist and board member of the Sherman Minton Moot Court Competition, and the chief justice of the Indiana University Student Body Supreme Court. Ali also earned her Bachelor of Arts in Biology and History with highest distinction from Indiana University, where she was a Wells Scholar and where she was selected into Phi Beta Kappa.
