What is the name of your organization, and what is your current position/job title?
- Torres Consulting & Law Group, LLC, government relations specialist
- In this position I consult on municipal issues with our clients in the construction trades, often working on lobbying for new developments, policies and projects at the city level.
Why did you choose the O’Neill Online MPA program?
I chose this program because of the high ranking among peer programs, the course offerings and the flexibility associated with the online format. It is important for me to continue working full-time, and this program allows me to do that without sacrificing program quality.
How has the flexibility of the online program helped you to balance all of your responsibilities?
I don’t know if I would have been able to enter a full-time program that was not online. My job is full-time, and I have a lot of outside of work commitments that leave me with limited time to dedicate to my studies. This program has allowed me to work when I am available.
What are your main academic/policy areas of interest and what led you to those interests?
I am most interested in local government, labor issues and economic planning/development at the city level. My current work has led me to be interested in labor policy and economic/workforce development, but I have always had a passion for local government and its ability to improve people’s daily lives.
Is there anything else you would like prospective students to know about you or your experience in the program?
I’ve just started this program, and what I’m most pleased with is how fun and challenging the courses are while still allowing me to be flexible with my other responsibilities.
