BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The Paul H. O'Neill School of Public and Environmental Affairs is pleased to announce the appointment of Srikant Sastry as a new executive in residence. Sastry, an accomplished leader in professional services, brings decades of experience spanning federal government, consulting, and advisory roles.
As executive in residence, Sastry will leverage his extensive expertise to mentor students, collaborate with faculty, and contribute to the school’s mission of preparing leaders who will make a significant impact in public and environmental affairs.
“O’Neill prepared me for a career of service and leadership,” Sastry said. “I have enjoyed our working relationship over many years and am honored to serve as an Executive in Residence to help prepare our students to lead for the greater good.”
Sastry most recently served as managing partner of advisory services at Cherry Bekaert, where he developed and implemented a digitally driven, industry-aligned growth strategy. He previously held the role of national managing principal of U.S. advisory services at Grant Thornton, where he was a member of the Senior Leadership Team and the Global Advisory Steering Committee. At Grant Thornton, Sastry drove a hyper-growth strategy that prioritized creating, protecting, and transforming customer value across the commercial, nonprofit, and government sectors.
He earned his Master of Public Affairs at the O’Neill School in 1988 after graduating manga cum laude in political science and government from the University of Massachusetts Amherst. He earned his J.D. from the George Washington University Law School.
“We are delighted to welcome Srikant back to the O’Neill School as executive in residence,” said Siân Mooney, dean of the O’Neill School. “Srikant’s innovative leadership in multiple sectors and his commitment to public service embody the values we strive to instill in our students. We look forward to his contributions in shaping the next generation of leaders.”
Sastry’s career has also included roles as an associate partner at IBM Business Consulting Services, principal consultant at PricewaterhouseCoopers, and positions at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, the Office of Management and Budget, and the Internal Revenue Service.
He was recognized with the O’Neill School’s Distinguished Alumni Award in 2019. His exemplary work has also earned him national recognition, including being named one of Consulting Magazine’s “Top 25 Consultants” as well as “Business Leader of the Year” by the Washington Business Journal and the Alexandria Chamber of Commerce. In addition, Sastry has demonstrated a strong commitment to education and community service, including his tenure as board chair of the Partnership Fund at Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology from 2015 to 2017.
Currently, Sastry chairs the board of the Consortium of Advanced Management-International (CAM-I) and is a board member on the Foundation Board of Directors for Wolf Trap National Park for the Performing Arts.
