BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Representatives from the Paul H. O’Neill School of Public and Environmental Affairs will engage in discussions, present cutting-edge research, and contribute to advancing the field of nonprofit studies at the 2024 Annual Conference of the Association for Research on Nonprofit Organizations and Voluntary Action Nov. 21-23 in Washington, D.C.
The ARNOVA conference, themed “Dreaming for a Bright Nonprofit Future: Policy Making, Technology, and Collaboration in a Dynamic Environment,” will foster public dialogue and offer a platform to present research on pressing issues facing the voluntary and nonprofit sectors. The O’Neill School will have a prominent presence, with 11 faculty members and numerous Ph.D. students presenting their work throughout the event.
“The ARNOVA Annual Conference is a key platform for advancing research and dialogue in the nonprofit sector,” said Siân Mooney, dean of the O’Neill School. “The O’Neill School’s participation underscores our dedication to understanding and addressing the needs of nonprofit organizations and the communities they serve.”
The O’Neill School will also host an Awards Luncheon Nov. 22 from Noon-1:45 p.m. Assistant Professor Vernise Estorcien, based at O’Neill’s IU Indianapolis location, will be among those honored as one of ARNOVA’s Emerging Scholar Fund recipients.
“Receiving the ARNOVA Emerging Scholar Award is a tremendous honor that validates my commitment to studying public and nonprofit management, particularly in the realm of minority youth development,” Estorcien said. “This recognition will establish my reputation as a rising academic in the field, support the advancement of my research on minority youth, and enable me to advocate for community initiatives that are crucial for underserved populations.”
The luncheon will also include remarks from Professor Beth Gazley.
