Collaboration sits at the very foundation of quality policy.
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Understanding the value of varying perspectives allows policymakers to anticipate potential issues that may arise when developing policy, and recognizing the way different policies might impact people in the real world can help avoid disastrous outcomes.
Addressing complex social and environmental challenges demands perspectives, and a series of relationships recently established between the Paul H. O’Neill School of Public and Environmental Affairs and several partners aims to open the door to opportunity to collaboration.
“A master’s degree from the O’Neill School provides both the knowledge and real-world know-how to allow leaders to excel and make a difference,” said Siân Mooney, dean of the O’Neill School. “By providing access, education, experience, and support to our partners, we can develop the next generation of leaders and agents of change in their communities and the world.”
Partners include the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute, the Hudson and Holland Scholars Program at IU, Washington and Lee University, Hanover College, and DePauw University. An agreement has also been signed to establish a partnership with the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation.
The O’Neill School also is joining the Federal Academic Alliance in an arrangement with the United States Office of Personnel Management to allow federal government employees, their spouses, or dependents to pursue a graduate education with one of the nation’s premier schools of public affairs.
“We are thrilled to provide our alumni with access to this transformative opportunity,” said Ryan E. Tucker, senior director, Leadership Institute at the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation. “Attending the O’Neill School opens doors to unparalleled educational experiences and empowers our alumni to effect positive change. Together, we are paving the way for future leaders who will make a lasting impact on society.”
The partnerships allow eligible participants to earn a valuable graduate degree from the O’Neill School while enjoying such benefits as tuition reduction and waived application fees.
“Thanks to this partnership with the O’Neill School of Public and Environmental Affairs at Indiana University, CHCI alumni now have greater access to one of the top academic institutions for public affairs,” said Marco A. Davis, President and CEO of CHCI. “We look forward to seeing our alumni continue to build and grow on everything they learned throughout the CHCI program at one of the nation’s most prestigious universities.”
