BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Nine O’Neill undergraduate students have been honored with Indiana University’s Senior Recognition Awards for their leadership and service to the campus community.
Leilanu Jackson, BSPA’22, received the Herman B Wells Award, an honor given to one student each year who has excelled academically and is an established leader within the IU community. Jackson graduated in December 2022 with a major in environmental management and is currently pursuing her MPA at O’Neill. Her name will be permanently displayed in the Indiana Memorial Union.
Nonprofit management and leadership major Mary Kiarie received the Elvis J. Stahr Award for academic excellence and for her service as an active campus and community leader.
Healthcare management and policy major Tateana Cutter and December law and public policy graduate Kyrian Freeman, BSPA’22, each received the P.J. and Hilda W. Hill Award. The award is presented to outstanding seniors with a demonstrated commitment to creating an equitable and inclusive campus during their undergraduate careers.
Five O’Neill students received the Kate Hevner Mueller Senior Award, which honors seniors who “have proven leadership on campus both inside and outside of the classroom and who have improved the IU community by their presence.” Those student leaders include law and public policy major and accelerated MPA student Micah Camble; December graduate and O’Neill MPA student Taylor Longhitano, BSPA’22; management major Katelyn King; nonprofit management and leadership major Ali Klein; and policy analysis major Kyle Seibert.
“These students are powerful representatives of O’Neill’s commitment to lead for the greater good,” said R.J. Woodring, O’Neill’s associate dean for educational programs. “We’re incredibly proud of all they’ve accomplished so far and look forward to seeing where their commitment to public service takes them in the future.”
