Academic calendar

As a SPEA IUB student, you will spend a semester at the Reims campus. Sciences Po has a strong focus on the social sciences and humanities, but also offers courses in other fields such as policy, law, and journalism. The vast majority of courses are offered in English. There is no requirement to speak French in order to do the Science Po exchange, however Sciences Po does require that SPEA students take a French course designated by a placement test.

You must take 30 ECTS (ECTS is the credit unit used throughout Europe) which equals 15 IU credits during your semester at Sciences Po.

If you drop below the required 30 ECTS enrollment while abroad, you will be awarded F grades for the missing credits (ex: if you register for 24 ECTS (12 IU credits), you will be give an F grade for the missing 3 IU credits). Please maintain required enrollment!

Sciences Po offers a unique certificate option for students. You will have the option to earn a certificate in one of four categories:

There is no obligation to complete one of the certificate programs, it is merely an option. If it better suits your interests, please feel free to mix and match classes from the different certificate programs. You can view course offerings from prior semesters as examples of coursework available at Sciences Po:

Although course offerings are similar from year to year, all courses are subject to change.

This program is open to SPEA undergraduate students at IU Bloomington. To apply and participate in the exchange, you must have completed your sophomore year of study and be in good academic standing. Applicants will only be considered if their cumulative GPA and SPEA GPA is 3.0; a minimum of 3.3 is preferred. Sciences Po is academically rigorous so applicants must be academically high achieving.

Your biggest variable will be housing.
