BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – The School of Public and Environmental Affairs at Indiana University Bloomington is among the top five in the world, according to a new international ranking of schools of public administration.
The Center for World University Rankings (CWUR), based in the United Arab Emirates, has issued its first ranking of global universities in 227 different subjects, focusing on science and social science.
The rankings of elite universities are based on the number of research articles in highly respected academic journals. More information about the methodology is available.
In its announcement, CWUR said they are the only rankings “that measure the quality of education and training of students as well as the prestige of the faculty members and the quality of their research without relying on surveys and university data submissions.”

The rankings echo the more established U.S. News and World Report rankings that place SPEA in a tie for the top spot among 272 U.S. schools offering MPAs. That ranking is based on surveys on leading public affairs educators.
