Dean John D. Graham has appointed faculty members Michael McGuire and Kirsten Grønbjerg to senior leadership positions at the Indiana University Bloomington School of Public and Environmental Affairs.
Effective today, McGuire is the executive associate dean and GrØnbjerg is the associate dean of faculty. They are assuming the duties of David Reingold, the former executive associate dean who has been named the Justin S. Morrill Dean of the College of Liberal Arts at Purdue University.
Graham announced the appointments in this note to faculty and staff:
Dear colleagues,
Please join me in congratulating Michael McGuire and Kirsten GrØnbjerg as they assume new leadership positions here at SPEA Bloomington. Commencing today, Michael will be Executive Associate Dean and Kirsten will be Associate Dean for Faculty Affairs.
Michael will be responsible for the operations of the school including budgeting, human resources, academic programs and institutional administration. He has superbly served SPEA in many capacities and has deservedly been honored repeatedly for his work as a teacher and scholar.
Kirsten is charged with supervising faculty personnel issues, including reviews, promotion and tenure decisions. Kirsten is among the nation’s foremost experts on nonprofit and public sector relationships and is admired and deeply respected by her colleagues at SPEA and across the IU campuses.
Michael and Kirsten will both continue their teaching and research programs but in a way that allows them all of the time needed to fulfill their important new tasks.
To ensure a smooth transition, David Reingold has graciously offered to consult closely with Michael and Kirsten until his departure for Purdue on March 1st.
Sincerely,
John D. Graham, Ph.D.
Dean
