Leading public finance scholars, researchers, and doctoral students from the Paul H. O’Neill School of Public and Environmental Affairs are set to represent the school with a prominent presence at the upcoming Association for Budgeting & Financial Management Annual Conference held Sept. 24-26 in Washington, D.C. The conference marks a milestone moment for O’Neill Professor Justin Ross, who is completing his final year as ABFM Chair. In addition to his leadership role with the organization, Ross serves alongside Professor Craig Johnson as co-editor-in-chief of Public Budgeting & Finance, the official peer-reviewed journal of ABFM.
Adding to the school’s achievements this year, O’Neill Ph.D. candidate Sewon Kim has been named the recipient of the prestigious 2026 Michael Curro Student Paper Award. The award, which recognizes outstanding scholarly work by a graduate student in the field of public budgeting and financial management, will be formally presented to Kim during the conference proceedings Sept. 25.
Throughout the event, O’Neill researchers will present groundbreaking studies, lead panel discussions, and contribute to debates on emerging challenges in state, local, and federal public finance.
