Associate Professor Antung Anthony Liu of the Paul H. O’Neill School of Public and Environmental Affairs has been selected to join a distinguished cohort of experts tasked with assisting the update of the training guide for the U.S. Government Accountability Office.
The GAO, often referred to as the “congressional watchdog,” provides non-partisan, fact-based information to Congress to ensure the accountability and efficiency of the federal government. Liu’s selection underscores the O'Neill School’s commitment to translating high-level academic research into actionable public policy.
“I became a professor to engage in public service in its broadest form, contributing what I can to improve the lives of others,” Liu said. “Being involved in the GAO training guide can have unforeseen benefits long down the line if it contributes to improving the processes and procedures of evaluating public programs.”
Liu, an expert in environmental and energy economics, will provide critical insights into the development of training materials focused on regulatory impact analysis and cost-benefit frameworks. He has taught graduate-level classes on public program evaluation and has extensive experience evaluating real-life public programs. These guides are essential for GAO auditors as they evaluate the effectiveness of federal training programs.
This collaboration further cements the O'Neill School’s reputation as a leader in public affairs and public management and enhances its ability to shape the future of governance.
