
Biography
Karen Franks is a knowledgeable, kind and caring seasoned professional academic advisor for the O'Neill School Undergraduate Programs Office. She joined the team in early 2019. Prior to her position with O'Neill, she was advising and career coaching 21st Century Scholars. She also worked for five years with pre-service teachers at the School of Education. Franks earned a bachelor's degree from the College of Arts and Sciences with a double major in German and journalism. She also earned a master's of library science degree from Indiana University. Throughout her career, she has found her work helping students discover and reach their fullest potential very gratifying. Simply put, she loves her work with undergraduate students and is your biggest cheerleader! Two of her three children graduated from IU. Franks values healthy living and has lately been taking long walks and bike rides. Her favorite places to travel are Korea, Slovenia, and the Dalmatian coast, or visits to family in Maryland, New Hampshire, Denver, or Las Vegas.
